In order to honor and celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month in the US,–a non-profit dedicated to recognizing that our America fueled by an immigrant tradition–shared the stories and insight of a handful of well-known immigrants to the country, showing why diversity and understanding is integral to our past, present, and future.

The organization also encourages the regular folks among us to share immigrant stories via the site and social media using the hashtags#ImmigrantHeritageMonth and #IHM2016. This push comes at a time when the federal government hasincreased deportation raids on undocumented immigrants and presidential candidates have used racist and xenophobic rhetoric to describe immigration.
